The Thermals geben ihre Auflösung bekannt

The Thermals trennen sich. Dies gab die Indierockband aus Portland, Oregon am Montag in einem Statement bekannt.

Auf Facebook fanden sie warme Worte für ihre Fans, Freunde und Wegbegleiter. Sie schrieben:

„We are officially disbanding! After 15 years and 7 records, we feel our band has reached far beyond our initial expectations and goals, and are stepping away from it while we still cherish it. We traveled further, soared higher and played louder than we ever dreamed, and we now look forward to a new chapter in our lives, our art, and our friendship. We would like to thank all the great labels who have released our records, all the amazing people who have worked so hard for us, and most importantly our fans, who we consider to be some of the smartest, sweetest and most compassionate people in the world. We love you, and we hope to see you again some day.

The Thermals gründeten sich 2002, damals begannen Hutch Harris und Kathy Foster als Duo. Ihr Debüt MORE PARTS PER MILLION mit ihrem seitdem prägnanten Lo-Fi-Sound wurde von Harris im Alleingang aufgenommen und erschien 2003 bei Sub Pop. Danach veröffentlichten sie sechs weitere Alben in verschiedenen und verschieden großen Besetzungen, seit 2009 waren sie als Trio aktiv. Zuletzt erschien im März 2016 bei Saddle Creek ihr Album WE DISAPPEAR. Als ob sie damals schon von ihrer Auflösung gewusst hätten.
