Deutliche und ehrliche Worte von Noel Gallagher: Eine Oasis-Reunion sei durchaus möglich - jedoch nur gegen eine entsprechende Summe von Geld.
Endlich redet Noel Gallagher Klartext über eine mögliche Oasis-Reunion. Da die Frage nach Gallaghers früherer Band bei Interviews häufig im Raum stehe, entschloss er sich im Gespräch mit dem „Q Magazine“ die unangenehme Wahrheit auszusprechen.
Eine Reunion, so Gallagher, sei zwar immer eine Möglichkeit, jedoch nur bei einem für die Band attraktiven finanziellen Angebot: „Nobody has made us an offer. I’ve been in the same room as Liam, and even then nobody’s said, ‚Weren’t Oasis great? You should reform.‘ But if I was ever going to do it, it would only be for the money. This isn’t me putting it out there, by the way. Would I do it for charity? No way. We’re not that kind of people. For Glastonbury? I don’t think Michael Eavis has got enough money. But would we get back together one day? As long as everybody is still alive and still has their hair, it’s always a possibility. But only for the money.“
Selbstverständlich kam Noel Gallagher auch in diesem Interview nicht ohne einen Seitenhieb auf Kollegen aus. Dieses Mal traf es die Stone Roses, deren Reunion im Jahr 2011 zu diversen Auftritten im darauf folgenden Jahr führte. Der ehemalige Oasis-Frontmann findet, dass die Band förmlich zur Wiedervereinigung gezwungen wurde. Das Interesse an The Stone Roses sei danach jedoch enorm gesunken.
Doch das liege an der Mentalität der Engländer, glaubt Noel: „I think it’s ingrained in the English psyche – this idea that the glory days, the Empire, are behind us. Led Zeppelin! The Smiths! The Jam! They should all reform! Why? So a load of middle-aged people can stand in the O2 and go, ‚They’re not as good as they used to be‘. It’d be the same with Oasis. ‚Yeah, we’re not as good as we used to be.‚“
Noel Gallagher rührt derzeit kräftig die Werbetrommel für das neue Album CHASING YESTERDAY seiner Band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, das laut ihm nach Queens Of The Stone Age, Rolling Stones und T.Rex klingen wird. Bisher gab es zwei Songs der Platte zu hören – „In The Heat Of The Moment“ und „Ballad Of The Mighty I“. Zwei Live-Termine in Deutschland nach der Album-Veröffentlichung am 27. Februar 2015 folgen im März.
